The Moment I Decided to Love Myself
"Loving yourself isn't vanity; it's sanity."
It wasn't until I decided to love myself + know my worth that I started to see the the moments when I hadn't. Treating myself to nice things, getting a massage, lighting some candles, having a "me" day...yes, those things are all nice and deserving but real love stepped in when I:
✅ ...learned to say no and prioritize my needs over someone's opinion. I realized if my "no" compromised my relationship/friendship, then it wasn't a relationship worth having.
✅ ...didn't get paralyzed by speaking my mind for fear of hurting someone's feelings. I accepted that someone else's feelings are not my responsibility.
✅...didn't beat myself up when something wasn't perfect (or even when I wasn't perfect). Whew, work in progress.
✅ ...stopped achieving for the sole purpose of being good enough. Don't get me wrong, I'm a lifelong learner and a girl has got goals. Only now, they're for me and not to live up to another's expectations.
✅...I could truly look at another's success, not compare myself, and genuinely say, "go sis!" Don't act like y'all ain't never played the comparison game.
I decided to love myself when I decided that I was worthy of it! What changed for you when you decided to love yourself?
